Australia-Malaysia Nomad Tax Primer
For Australian nationals long-term at NS: a high-level map of how Malaysia views income, how the Australia-Malaysia tax treaty (DTA) allocates taxing rights and offers reliefs to prevent double taxation, and what this means for tax planning and filing.
The session will walk through our draft Malaysia Tax Wiki to clarify tax residency, income sources, foreign income exemptions, and filing obligations.
Key Australia-Malaysia DTA provisions will then be unpacked to flag what your tax preparer should know.
Participants are encouraged to share experiences with the Australian tax system. The aim is to surface practical challenges and approaches so that well-informed decisions can be made for 2025–2026.
This is not Australian or Malaysian tax advice, but a shared education space to understand how both systems interact.
The session is led by Electra Frost, Australian Chartered Tax Adviser and Accountant experienced in complex issues for global professionals and founders.
Half the session is focused on presenting core tax concepts in clear, understandable language.
The second half is discussion-led to support future development of a professional services hub aligned with the needs of the NS community.
Guest list is private (not public).
