About Event

Conservation succeeds when coastal communities see a future within it. By creating dignified jobs, investing in skills and training, strengthening local stewardship and reducing the economic risks, regenerative blue economy initiatives can help deliver lasting benefits for people and nature. As countries work towards protecting more of their coastal areas, investing in the next wave of conservation-aligned professionals will be as important as investing in the protected areas themselves.

This event will showcase the findings of Blue Marine’s Regeneration Generation report, revealing how regenerative blue economy initiatives are creating jobs, strengthening coastal resilience and inspiring the next generation of ocean stewards. Through a presentation of key findings, a panel featuring practitioners from Greece, Mexico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and a film screening, the event will explore how conservation can deliver not only ecological outcomes, but also meaningful employment, stronger communities and renewed hope for the future.

Event Objectives

  1. Share evidence on how marine conservation can support sustainable livelihoods, wellbeing and community resilience.

  2. Showcase real-world examples of livelihood transitions from Greece, Mexico and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

  3. Explore the role of local stewardship, training and community leadership in successful conservation outcomes.
