About Event

This workshop is the first workshop in Political ecology and Degrowth for youth project.

It's main focus will be on understanding ecological issues through Political Ecology and feminist perspectives. The central question will be - "Why isn't the current system working?" We will look into how issues like climate change, inequality, and resource conflicts are connected to deeper structures of power, economy, and society.

What can you expect?

  • Critique of growth, rebound effects, and environmental justice

  • Feminist and intersectional perspectives

  • Cases of ecological conflict, including of AI data center building in Brazil

  • A vegan cake!

  • A role-play!

  • Indian Dal as an early dinner

The event is targeted to young people who are new to the concepts of Political ecology and Degrowth and those who would like to get to know them better.

  • Case study of how the 'digital sovereignty' discourse in Brazil is used to build up AI data centers in Brazil threatening local populations and weakening their self-sufficiency

How does the system produce inequality?

  • How economic systems shape inequality and environmental outcomes

  • Feminist and intersectional perspectives

We will divide into different roles (community, corporation, authorities, activists, non-humans) and explore how does it feel to experience a an environmental conflict?
