About Event

So what happens the day AFTER earth day??? Well, we get to work with hope and courage and smarts and collaboration. As DC Climate Week rolls along, come to AGU's world headquarters building - the first net zero building in DC on Thursday, April 23rd. Join us mid-morning and stay through lunch (provided by AGU!) Hear and learn how we can connect powerfully both locally and globally to grow research, discoveries and solutions.

AGU President Brandon Jones

Panel Session and Discussion – Engaging Communities in Climate Solutions

Join AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange, the Association of Science Technology Centers (ASTC) and community members to learn about ways organizations and individuals can co-create climate awareness and solutions. Panelists will include a mix of perspectives including institutional, local government, community activists, and public engagement practitioners. The audience will be invited to join the discussion in this interactive session.

12:00 - 1:00pm

Lunch and a Movie – Telling the stories of community science through film. Science is more than research papers and lab coats, it’s about local folks addressing problems and looking for partners to address them. Watch how communities across the country have come together with AGU’s Thriving Earth Exchange. These four short films were made possible by the Moore Foundation.
