Product is... Ready for our AI Overlords
Suppose those damned robots win. Not the ‘destroyer of worlds’ but the polite version, where the tech quietly ends up minding the shop as our hyper-intelligent, benevolent overlord. Think AI Ned Flanders rather than T1000.
Day one in the big chair, and the robots hit a snag. Billions of humans to look after, keep happy to help with the robot agenda in the real world, without the faintest idea how any of us think. Their data says what we did - not reliably predict what we'll do next.
Funny, that. Product people have been working in this human ambiguity for years. So when the robots write their list of humans worth engaging with, we could be near the top. Or could we?
That's the question we'll put to the room at what promises to be a really fun event… A thought experiment if you will, with some real questions to answer underneath relating to ethics, goals, economics, regulation and the role of humanity in the hyper-tech future. The more perspectives and opinions, the better.
The speakers on stage - Tulika Singh and Paul Woodley - aren’t anti-robot by any means. Both of them create AI products and workflows for a living, which is either very brave or very sensible.
Regardless, we have all been very polite to the chatbots, just in case. 😉
With thanks to the legends at Synechron, our hosts, who have given us their offices for the evening and are generously providing the food and drinks.
How the evening works
'Product is…' is one of the 'Tech is… Creating Conversations' meetups, and they all work the same way: a room for big thinkers to think out loud, challenge each other and hear views they would not normally meet. The talks get you started. The conversation is the evening.
✋ A yes or no question to the room. Hands up.
🎤 Two short talks, one for each side. About the idea, not anyone's product.
🔁 The same question again. Did anyone change their mind?
💬 Small groups, and everyone gets a say. No Q&A, because the second half is all questions.
Who it is for
PMs, designers, researchers, developers, data people… if you have worked on digital products in any capacity, you have a perspective that we’d love to hear.
The speakers
🎯 Tulika Singh, AI Product Designer - DoorFeed, Deloitte · LinkedIn
Tulika is a senior product designer who builds AI-driven products across fintech and multi-agent tools. Often the sole designer in a room, she has worked with startups and solo founders to take products from zero to one. She learns by building, breaking and shipping things. She spoke on designing for delegation at Product Unleashed's Design+AI preview, writes Engineered by Design on Substack, and helps run PD Ladies.
🎯 Paul Woodley, Product & AI Ops Consultant - Spatial Clarity · LinkedIn
Paul runs Spatial Clarity, a product consultancy for teams whose customers sign up but never reach value. He finds where the journey breaks and gets people who disagree to agree on the fix. He has run 'Tech is… Creating Conversations' since 2019. A music snob, he picks the playlist. No requests.
About these evenings
Not CV clinics, not framework tips. Food for the mind, with people who came for the same reason.
