CACAO CIRCLE + ALTAR ART - Honoring What We Carry
CACAO CIRCLE + ALTAR ART
Honoring What We Carry
Join us at MASSA for an intimate evening of cacao, reflection, creativity, and remembrance inspired by Día de Muertos and the traditions of altar-making, guided by Maria Chavez.
We’ll begin by sharing ceremonial cacao and slowing down together through intention setting, guided meditation, and reflection around ancestry, memory, our lineages, or parts of ourselves we wish to honor.
From there, we’ll move into a hands-on art workshop inspired by repujado, the traditional technique of embossing designs into metal. You’ll create your own symbolic altar piece using embossed foil—something meaningful that can live on a Día de Muertos ofrenda, personal altar, or simply somewhere special in your home.
Your piece might take the form of a heart, flower, sun, moon, hand, animal, or a symbol entirely of your own.
No art experience is needed.
