​Join us for the opening conversation of Edmonton Life Sciences Spotlight Kick-Off , featuring Nobel Prize winner Sir Michael Houghton, Chief Scientific Officer at API and Director of the Li Ka Shing Applied Virology Institute at the University of Alberta, in conversation with Chris Hogg, CEO and Executive Editor of Digital Journal.

​Sir Mike has seen the evolution of biotech firsthand. From his early career in England, to helping build one of California’s leading biotech companies as it grew from dozens of employees to thousands, he brings a perspective shaped by decades of sector growth. 

​He applies those lessons to Alberta’s life sciences community at a time when the province is scaling its research, commercialization, and biomanufacturing capacity.

​The conversation will focus on what it takes to grow competitive life sciences clusters, how commercialization can be accelerated in Alberta and across Canada, and what the country needs to do to position itself on the global stage.
