Featured Speaker
Jack Wang is a Research Scientist at Adobe Research working on human-centered AI for productivity. His research focuses on mixed-initiative workflow automation, agent–UX co-design, and scalable evaluation methods for AI systems. His work has contributed to the Acrobat AI Assistant used by millions of professionals worldwide. Previously, he was the recipient of the Rising Star in Data Science award, the NAEP Reading Automated Scoring Challenge Grand Prize, and multiple other fellowships.
Beyond Chat: Agent-UX Co-Design and the Case for Simulated Users
RLHF closed the feedback loop between models and users for chat. But as agents move into visual editing, autonomous workflows, and multi-step tool use, that loop is broken: agent developers and UX designers work in silos, and the UX research process that should connect them doesn’t scale. In this talk, I’ll present our CHI 2026 work (Honorable Mention Award) on using generative agents to simulate real users during product concept testing, frame it within a broader vision of agent-UX co-design, discuss what simulated users can and cannot do to close this gap, and implications for agent developers.
