​California faces a defining challenge: how to address both crushing affordability pressures and escalating climate threats at the same time. Wildfires, extreme heat, and failing insurance markets compound the economic squeeze families already feel from high housing costs, utility bills, and everyday expenses. Traditional approaches treat these as separate problems requiring separate solutions. They're not. They're deeply connected challenges that demand integrated solutions.

The Resources Legacy Fund and California Forward have been working together this year to begin mapping out ideas for an approach to the next round of state climate programs that can support broad-based economic prosperity.
