Furniture Rescue Day with Seattle Zero Waste & The Furniture Repair Bank

​We're joining a volunteer event in partnership with The Furniture Repair Bank to divert repairable furniture from the landfill. Volunteers will help retrieve and sort items at the transfer station, giving furniture a second life instead of sending it to waste.

Volunteer from 10 am to 3 pm:
We'll have 2 time slots - 10am-12:30pm & 12:30pm-3pm. Join one or both!

Curious what this involves?

• ​Set up & breakdown of signage/tents at the beginning & end of the event

• ​Communicating with drivers bringing waste to the transfer station: tell them about the event, ask if they have furniture in their load, direct them to our tents for drop-off, etc.

• ​Control and direct traffic

• ​Unload furniture from vehicles & load into our truck

• ​We may end earlier than 3 pm if we reach capacity.

​Volunteer Support is also Needed from approximately 4 to 5 pm at our workshop in SoDo:

• ​Offload furniture from the truck into our workshop

​Please come in comfortable clothes and shoes suitable for the weather and standing outside. 

Due to the location the number of tickets available is limited. If you sign up and are unable to attend, please cancel your ticket so others can join.
