​What is a Crafternoon?

​Crafternoon is an event where people make things side by side in a quiet relaxing afternoon, normally in a cafe/bar/restaurant with a tatami room, but this time, it will be in a park!

​It could be drawing, painting, coloring books, knitting, journaling, writing poems, songwriting, embroidery, or anything your hands (or heart) feel like doing.

​The goal is to create an inclusive space, especially for neurodivergent people (specifically those with autism and/or ADHD), who enjoy what's called "parallel play," or anyone who simply likes doing something hands-on while being around others.

​Who Can Join?

​Everyone, total beginners included!
You don't need to identify as a neurodivergent.
You don't need to be a local resident either — tourists are welcome too. If you don't have a craft, you can doodle, write, color, or simply soak in the atmosphere. Curiosity is totally enough.

​What Can I Bring?

• ​Food + drink

• ​Your own craft, writing, or sketch materials (coloring books welcome!)

• ​A small protective mat or cover if you’re bringing watercolor, ink, or anything that might leave a stain

• ​Camping chair + protective mat if you are not comfortable sitting on the floor. But there are chairs available right outside the tatami room

• ​(If needed) Insect repellent spray, camping chair, sunscreen, protection from the sun (hat, sunglasses)

​Sensory Information

​Yoyogi Park tends to have big events and a lot of people because it is a park in a central area. However, the location we chose tends to be far from the usual location of events. But please bring your own ear defenders just in case.

​If sitting on the ground is difficult, you can bring your own camping chair.

​If you have additional accommodation needs, please let us know. We'll do our best to make it work.

​Requests to Attendees

• ​Please ask before touching anyone or their belongings.

• ​Respect people's pronouns and avoid presuming anyone's gender.

• ​Please avoid making loud noises, strong perfumes/colognes, as some people may get overstimulated.

• ​If someone makes you uncomfortable, please let the organizer know privately. We take the safety and comfort of our attendees seriously.

​Photo and Video Policy

• ​No photos or recordings without permission.

• ​Photos may occasionally be taken by the organizer(s) for event promotion purposes. If so, an announcement will be made beforehand, and anyone who wishes to be included is welcome to stay for the photo. Those who prefer not to appear in any photos are free to step out of frame at that time.
