A live working session on starting a YouTube channel, turning it into a revenue engine, and having opportunities come to you instead of chasing them.

The job market is hot. Almost nobody feels motivated by it.

Product management and forward-deployed engineering are some of the hottest hiring markets in tech right now. Yet most people aren't racing to sharpen their skills.

We think we know why.

Watching layoffs happen at scale, handed out like Halloween candy, is demoralizing. And even if you land the job, the idea of working nonstop, six or seven days a week, doesn't fire anyone up anymore.

That's completely fair.

Here's the part that doesn't change: whether you want your next job, a promotion at your current one, or a full exit from tech to build your own business, the skills you need are largely the same. And one of them keeps showing up in all three paths.

YouTube.

  • Launching a product successfully requires you to understand YouTube.

  • Moving up the ranks requires you to understand YouTube.

  • Leaving tech to start your own business almost certainly requires YouTube.

Long-form is back.

Instagram and TikTok are both now allowing much longer videos, which tells you where attention is heading. The more time people spend watching you do what you do or explain what you believe, the more likely a stranger becomes a buyer, a client, or a hire.

So why isn't everyone doing it?

Because it's easier said than done.

  • There's an overwhelming amount of information out there, and it changes fast. What worked last quarter, or even last month, may not work again.

  • You can't know what you'll need to do next month to stay relevant.

  • Procrastination, analysis paralysis, and imposter syndrome keep too many smart people from ever hitting "publish."

  • The ideal fix is a YouTube strategist, but at $5,000+ a month, that's out of reach for most people.

Why this matters more every year

Converting interviews into offers has only gotten harder over the last five years. As AI keeps accelerating, it will get harder still.

A YouTube channel and a personal brand give you a second income stream that you own. Your channel becomes a revenue engine and a nurturing funnel for:

  • Full-time opportunities

  • Advisory opportunities

  • Consulting opportunities

  • Brand deals

Most importantly, you stop having to beg for work. That feeling is dehumanizing, and we don't think anyone should have to live with it. We want the best opportunities to come to you, and that starts with a channel.

What this session is

We don't claim to have all the answers. What we do have is a list of mistakes we've avoided and mistakes we've made through trial and error, and sharing them can save you a lot of time.

This is the first call of many. We want to hear what you think and what you're stuck on, and we want to take real action together.

This isn't a sales pitch. For context, TechCareers.io runs programs for people moving into product management, programs for forward-deployed engineering roles, and a bonus track in marketing engineering. Marketing engineering is a role in itself and one of the most valuable skill sets for a PM or FDE to have. But this session is about your channel, not our programs.

Who this is for

  • Product managers who want to stand out, move up, or build leverage outside their employer

  • Forward-deployed engineers and technical professionals building a personal brand

  • Anyone in tech who is quietly thinking about an exit and wants a plan that doesn't depend on a job posting

  • Anyone who has been "about to start a YouTube channel" for months

Come ready

Bring your YouTube channel set up and ready to go. The session is much more useful if you can start promoting right away.
