La Pedriza (moderate, free, women only)

​🪨🌲 La Pedriza - Canto Cochino - Charca Verde · Manzanares el Real

​A stunning circular hike through one of Madrid's most dramatic landscapes: La Pedriza, a natural park of towering granite rock formations, pine forest and crystal-clear natural pools. The trail follows the Manzanares river up to the iconic Canto Cochino area, winding through boulders and pines with sweeping views of the Sierra de Guadarrama and the medieval castle of Manzanares el Real below. 🏰

​Distance: 12.1 km · Elevation: 416 m · Time: 3.5 to 4 h ·

​Difficulty: Moderate. Well-marked trail with some uneven rocky sections. Proper hiking boots essential. 🥾

​Getting there: Bus 724 from Intercambiador de Plaza de Castilla → Manzanares el Real (direct, ~55 min). Departs at 10:00 AM (please be there 20min earlier and check the screens for the platform)

​Logistics: Group size: Capped at 25, please sign up: Meeting option 1: 9:40 AM at Intercambiador de Plaza de Castilla, bus 724 departs at 10:00 AM sharp.

​Meeting option 2: 10:55 AM at the Manzanares el Real bus stop.

​Return: Bus back at around 17:00/17:45, arriving Madrid ~18:00/18:45.

​What to bring: Hiking boots, layers, a windbreaker, packed lunch, snacks and at least 1.5L of water. 🧺

​Cost: Free. You only pay for your own public transport.
