VIN#001: Jazz Foundations
Introducing VIN#, a new series from the people behind _____ZONE and Talking While Eating.
Each VIN# brings a small group together around a curated selection of records and a particular line of inquiry. We listen closely, follow the music wherever it leads, and use it as a way into history, culture, art, and conversation.
VIN#001: Jazz Foundations
Jazz did not arrive fully formed.
It borrowed, argued, traveled, and evolved, absorbing Latin rhythms, electric instruments, orchestral commissions, and the occasional rule it had no interest in following. This first installment of a four-part jazz series listens to that expansion in real time, across hard bop, modal jazz, free jazz, film music, and beyond, all on vinyl, all through one of the finest hi-fi systems in the region.
Michael Cina creates an original visual program to accompany the full two-hour sonic journey. Limited to twenty seats. Located in Minneapolis. Wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and light hors d'oeuvres included.
Doors, drinks + hors d’oeuvres: 7:30
Listening session: 8:00-10:00
Hosted by Danny Litin and Michael Cina.
