About Event

AI Safety ANZ has assembled a panel of experts to help you understand Parliament's Joint Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence.

The Sydney AI Safety Space is streaming this panel event and hosting a watch party! Snacks will be provided. 5.30pm for a 6pm start.

The Joint Select Committee on AI has been tasked with 13 questions that together ask how Australia should deal with a technology carrying this much risk and this much promise.

The Committee is accepting input from the public until Monday 14 September 2026 (just over a week). This is your chance to hear what a range of people and organisations make of it, work out where you land, and think about putting in a submission of your own.

This night will help you:

  • Understand what the Committee is, what it's asking, and what it means for you

  • Hear a range of voices on what worries them about AI and what they'd tell the Committee

  • Start drafting your own submission alongside other attendees, if you want to

Speaking on the night:

  • Greg Sadler (Good Ancestors)

  • Emily Grundy (Good Ancestors)

  • Mark Zirnsak (Uniting Church)

  • Devon Whittle (Global Shield)

  • Emily Low (Gradient Institute)

  • More TBC!
