Freelance creatives don’t get holiday parties. No team dinner, no end-of-year toast, no one thanking us for a good year.

So we’re throwing our own again, and we’d love to have you there for our last event of 2026.

Come celebrate the work you made this year, catch up with people who get what you do, and unwind with the community.

What’s Happening

🎥 Screenings
We’ll be showing work from members of our community. They’ll be in the room, so you can ask questions afterward or just tell them how much you loved it.

🍿 Free Popcorn
There’s a popcorn machine, and it’s unlimited. Help yourself all night.

☕ Hot Chocolate Bar
A cozy option for anyone not drinking, or anyone who wants a little of both.

🏓 Ping Pong Table
All skill levels welcome. Friendly trash talk encouraged.

🍻 Bar
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on-site. Card accepted.

🎁 Surprises
We’ve got a few extras planned that are just for the people who come. No spoilers.

The Vibe

Part film festival, part party. Come for the screenings, stay for everything after. No pitching and no networking pressure, just good work and good company.

Dress Code: Dress up if you feel like it. Sequins, suits, your fanciest outfit, go for it. Or come as you are. Either way, you’ll fit right in.

Feel free to bring a friend or partner, even if they’re outside the creative world. Everyone’s welcome here.

Want To Show Your Work?

If you’ve been to a VFC meetup before, we’d love to see what you’ve made this year! A few guidelines:

• Must be completed in 2026

• 20 minutes max

• No social media reels or showreels

• At least one person involved in the project needs to be at the event

Beyond that, it’s wide open. Last year we screened everything from branded films to documentaries to commercials. Collaborations between VFC members are very encouraged, so if you made something together, submit it together!

Spots are first come, first served. The first person to send us a link gets priority, and we’ll keep accepting until we’ve filled the screening block (about an hour). Once it’s full, it’s full, so don’t wait too long!

We’re at Big Baby Film Studios, a private studio space in Strathcona, near Venables and Clark. There’s plenty of free street parking nearby.

We can’t wait to see you there.

Refunds are available up to 48 hours before the event — just email hello@richardalam.com. After that, tickets are non-refundable. This helps us keep capacity open for people who can actually make it.

About Vancouver Freelance Creatives

VFC is a community of camera-based creatives (filmmakers, photographers, cinematographers, videographers, producers, editors, etc.) who connect, collaborate, and support one another through in-person meetups once a month. While we focus on working creatives, everyone at any stage of their creative journey is welcome! It’s a space to build community, share ideas, and spark new creative opportunities.
