Scaling Without Selling Out
Host: Health in Harmony
What if national climate and health policy began with communities closest to forests and biodiversity?
Across the tropics, Indigenous Peoples and local communities are developing solutions that improve health, livelihoods, and forest protection. Increasingly, these community-led approaches are influencing government policy and national systems.
This interactive session explores how climate and health solutions can scale without sidelining community leadership.
Drawing on Health In Harmony’s partnerships in Indonesia, Brazil, Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and beyond, speakers will share how rights-based, community-designed models can shape national action while maintaining local ownership.
Through short case stories and participatory discussion, attendees will explore how funders, governments, and NGOs can support scaling that strengthens both communities and climate and biodiversity outcomes.
Participants will leave with practical insights on how community-led approaches can inform policy and scale impact across climate, health, and development sectors.
Speakers include Ashley Emerson, Co-CEO of Health In Harmony; Dr. Sakib Burza, Chief Health & Innovation Officer; and Yani Saloh, Board Chair of Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI) Health in Harmony’s Indonesia affiliate, alongside invited partners.
