Make a hand broom @ Suarez!

​Join us at Suarez for an afternoon of crafting in community! At this Baubo Commons workshop, Erin Kate Ryan will show us how to make “turkey wing” hand brooms. We’ll sit together on Suarez’s beautiful back porch with the benches arranged in a circle to find the specific full-body focus that broom building asks of us: feet gripping the foot brake that serves as a spindle, hands turning the bundled broomcorn as we wrap it tight with the sinew, eyes and body holding the perfect tension so the broom holds but the sinew doesn’t snap… minds and mouths engaged in the kind of easy conversation that flows with busy hands (and maybe some intermittent sips of beer)!
