AFTP Film Fest: After Yang
"Automation for the People" is a Embassy residency program for provocation and prefiguration about how technology can serve the common good. Fellows engage in self-directed projects, discussion and research on topics in this broad range, and Embassy serves as a porous container to catalyze spontaneous collaboration and inspiration.
As part of this residency, we will be hosting a series of five films relating to collectivism, technology, and relationality, to inform and inspire the direction of our work.
The second entry in the <AFTP> Film Fest is After Yang (2021, USA):
When his young daughter’s beloved companion — an android named Yang — malfunctions, Jake searches for a way to repair him. In the process, Jake discovers the life that has been passing in front of him, reconnecting with his wife and daughter across a distance he didn’t know was there.
