Technology is increasingly entering the mental-health space, from AI and digital interventions to clinical tools, practice infrastructure, assessment, research and client-facing platforms. But building in mental health requires more than identifying a problem and finding a technological solution.

This event is an in-person debate and product critique space for founders, builders and all people exploring the intersection of mental health and technology.

Rather than a traditional pitch or networking event, participants will bring their products, prototypes, early-stage ideas, or even problems they are still trying to understand into the room.

A few ideas will be pitched, questioned and challenged by the group, with the conversation moving through problem definition, users, technology, evidence, ethics, risk and the realities of mental-health practice.

The aim isn't to arrive at a verdict on whether an idea is “good” or “bad.” It's to make the thinking behind mental-health technology more visible, challenge assumptions, and identify what still needs to be understood before building further.

TiNT's role is to bridge the technology and mental-health ecosystems — bringing clinical, research and practitioner perspectives into conversations with the people building products and technologies for this space.

You don't need to have a company or a finished product. You can come with an early-stage idea, a problem you've noticed, or simply a serious interest in building in mental health.

The provocation:

If you want to build in mental health, what do you need to understand before you build?

The Pitch Framework

To keep the pitches focused and make them easy for the room to interrogate, please follow this format:

1. The Problem: What are you trying to solve?

2. The Person: Who experiences this problem?

3. The Product: What are you proposing?

4. Why Technology?: Why does technology belong in this solution?

5. The Assumption: What is the biggest thing you currently don't know?

The final question is deliberately important. Founders aren't expected to present a finished or fully validated idea.

The Four Lenses

Every idea will be examined through four questions:

PROBLEM

Is this actually the problem? Whose problem is it? What evidence do we have that it exists in the way we're describing it?

EVIDENCE

What do we know versus what are we assuming? What would we need to establish before making a mental-health or clinical claim?

ETHICS

Who could be affected by this? What could go wrong? What happens when the technology gets it wrong? Where does responsibility sit?

TECHNOLOGY

Why technology? What does the technology enable that another intervention cannot? What should remain human?

For People Without a Product

We also include a limited number of Problem Seats. Participants who aren't building yet can bring a problem statement:

“I've noticed this problem in mental health, but I don't know what should be built around it.”

You get a short period to present the problem, and the room interrogates it before moving towards solutions.
