Dr. Powers is Professor in the Political Science and Africana Studies departments. She works on UNM’s Trustworthy AI Grand Challenge team. Throughout her career, she has tried to understand how systems of law interact with trade, human rights, and war. She has also done lots of work closer to home through the Algorithmic Justice Group at the Santa Fe Institute, where she investigated how bias from algorithms used in the justice system propagates into human rights concerns.
She will be coming to talk about her ideas for AI REGULATION and will highlight ongoing efforts for international AI regulation!
