About Event

Join us for an afternoon exploring the history, memory, and culture of the Fuzhounese community through storytelling, archival art, and Qinghong rice wine.

For decades, Fuzhou immigrants have shaped New York’s Chinatown, carrying with them stories of migration, resilience, labor, family, and home. This event highlights a rarely seen chapter of that history through archival materials from the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA)’s collection, including artwork created by Fuzhounese immigrants detained after the Golden Venture incident—preserving their voices, experiences, and memories during a pivotal moment in Fuzhounese migration history.

Through migration storytelling, archival paper sculptures, and a guided tasting of Fuzhou Qinghong wine, we’ll trace the journey of a community across oceans and generations.

By bringing together archival materials, storytelling, and wine, this event offers a deeper look into the Fuzhounese experience and the stories that continue to shape the community today.
