ARCHIVIO COME ERAVAMO (Gianfilippo De Rossi)
Archivio Come Eravamo is a never-before-published photographic archive of colour and black-and-white negatives in various formats, shot from the 1930s to the 1990s. The unseen photographs tell the story of photographer Gianfranco Torossi's personal life, and of the changes Italy went through in its recent history. Indirectly, the two stories come together in the photographs, creating a meeting point between personal memory and collective history.
Gianfilippo De Rossi is an Italian photographer born in Rome in 1987. From 2006 to 2018 he lived in Los Angeles, where he studied photography at Santa Monica College and worked for several years as an assistant to the legendary photographer Douglas Kirkland. He currently works in Rome as a set photographer and documentary maker. In 2021 he began cataloguing the photographs and scanning the negatives, and in 2024 he launched the Archivio Come Eravamo page on Instagram.
