Sheryl Swoopes was one of the original players signed to the WNBA when the new league for women’s professional basketball was launched in 1996. Before that, Swoopes spent her storied college career at Texas Tech where she was a First Team All-American in 1992 and 1993 as well as being named the Naismith College Player of the Year and the WBCA Player of the Year her senior season. Swoopes still holds the school record for highest career scoring average and most points in a season. In 1993, she scored an NCAA record 47 points in the national championship game and was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player. During her time in the WNBA, Swoopes was named MVP three times (2000, 2002, 2005) and won four straight championships as a member of the Houston Comets (1997-2000). At the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game, Swoopes was recognized as one of the 15 greatest players in league history. Her time with USA Basketball included three Olympic gold medals and one FIBA World Championships gold medal. She was was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.
Terrika Foster-Brasby is an analyst, host, and reporter for ESPN. She appears on a variety of programs on ESPN digital platforms, including WNBA Hoop Streams, BBTN Live and Countdown to GameDay. Foster-Brasby has been a regular contributor to ESPN’s WNBA coverage, including during the 2022 WNBA Playoffs when she served as reporter. She has also covered NBA All-Star Weekend and the WNBA Draft as a social host for Andscape.
Cari Champion is a distinguished broadcast journalist and television personality who has made a significant impact on advancing the sports media industry for women today. As the host of her eponymous show, “The Cari Champion Show,” which aired on Amazon, she has engaged audiences with an unfiltered portrayal of sports. Champion recently hosted CNN's New Year's celebration and is frequently seen as a regular contributor to the network. Champion is dedicated to mentoring and advocating for women of color in sports television and broadcasting. Through her foundation, Brown Girls Dream, she empowers the next generation of media professionals.
Jemele Hill is an Emmy Award–winning journalist, Webby Award-winning podcast host, author, and co-founder of Lodge Freeway Media. Hill began her career at the Raleigh News & Observer and later held prominent roles at ESPN, including national columnist, SportsCenter anchor, and co‑host of “His & Hers.” Her 2022 memoir, “UPHILL: A Memoir,” chronicles her life and career, and she was named Journalist of the Year by the National Association of Black Journalists in 2018. A Detroit native, Hill graduated from Michigan State University in 1997 with a degree in journalism and married Ian Wallace in 2019.
