Brian K’s Practical Skills Workshops Series: Unlocking the Secrets of Sewing Denim II (Workshop 2)

​WORKSHOP #2: Workwear Pocket Prep, pressing templates, topstitching templates and applying the pocket.

Participant # (max): 10 - 15 ppl

• ​Objective(s): Understanding the Workwear Pocket: Learn the key elements of a classic Workwear pocket, including its shape, stitching details, and placement on denim garments.

• ​Creating Pressing Templates: Understand the importance of pressing in denim sewing and how to create and use pressing templates to ensure crisp, accurate folds and seams.

• ​Designing and Using Topstitching Templates: Learn how to design and use topstitching templates to create consistent, professional-looking stitches that enhance the overall finish of your denim projects.

• ​Applying the Pocket to the Bib: Learn the steps to carefully attach the Workwear pocket to the Bib of your denim shop apron, combining all your skills for a professional result.

• ​We will wrap things up with a discussion of where we want to be at the beginning of workshop 3.

​By the end of this session, you will have successfully sewn a Workwear pocket, and honed essential skills like pressing, topstitching, and pocket placement, bringing you one step closer to completing your denim shop apron.

​We will provide:

• ​Denim fabric

• ​Thread

• ​Equipment

​If you are a TMU student who requires workshop hours, these workshops can be used to fulfill those requirements. Your workshop sheet will be signed at the fourth and final workshop.

​Please note that you must attend all four workshops to receive credit.
