About the exhibition
In Please Stay the Night, I Feel So Lonely Without Somebody Gajewski blends brutal sincerity with playfulness to question how we navigate contemporary dating and relationships. He explores the tension between intimacy and performance through the lens of expressed and non-expressed feelings.
His sculptures combine digital distortion, internet language, and hand-carved walnut to transform fleeting forms of in-app expression into physical objects, while large-scale character portraits isolate emotionally ambiguous moments of limerence and inner tension. Fragmented text panels function like broken mirrors, reflecting desires, contradictions, and the instability of language itself. Together, the works create an emotionally honest and nuanced landscape moving between introspection, confrontation, and playful release.
About the artist
Marcin Gajewski is a Berlin based artist working across media exploring how emotional expression shapes identity in today’s digital world. Gajewski draws inspiration from the way we use language to miscommunicate our emotions, graffiti, and 1990s anime to create large portrait paintings, text panels and wooden sculptures.
