Intro to Social Dance Workshop & Social
Come learn how to swing dance with other commons members! We'll teach an introductory version of swing dance that's perfect for first-timers. We taught this class a few months ago and it was a big hit!
We'll do 4 count hustle which
Has a VERY quick learning curve. Someone who has never danced before can become proficient at 4 count hustle within an hour!!
Is perfect for those looking to get a taste of what social dancing is like
works great at weddings or bars/clubs because it can be danced to common pop hits
Will teach you connection and skills that are used in most other partner dance forms
Is silly, expressive, and a welcoming way to connect with another human being
We have limited capacity for the workshop due to room size. IMPORTANT: Be sure to arrive by the start time since it will be difficult to catch up if you miss the basics in the first 10 minutes. Accepted luma attendees only for the class, but anyone is welcome to come to the social after!
8- 9:15PM: Club Swing workshop
9:15 - 10PM: Social
Wear sneakers/comfortable shoes for dancing, no specific dress code!
This is a beginner class to introduce partner dancing skills to those with little to no dance experience, but experienced dancers are welcome to come help out! No partner required. We'll rotate partners frequently for faster learning.
