ZurichJS Conference week is here, and we’re hosting a special side event: an invite-only fireside chat and private BBQ dinner with AG Grid, Bryntum, and ZurichJS.
Join us for an evening of insightful conversation, fun community vibes, great food, and awesome connections with senior professionals from Switzerland’s fintech, banking, insurance, and technology communities.
What to expect
🎤 Panel discussion: AI and the Future of UI Libraries
Industry experts and special guests will explore the future of UI development, with a focus on building data intensive platforms, improving performance, choosing the right UI libraries, and understanding how AI is changing the way interfaces are designed and developed.
We will hear from:
Andrew James who is a senior software engineer at Coinbase in Glasgow, Scotland, working on the Institutional trading team for Coinbase Prime and part of the frontend bar raisers group. Outside of work, he splits his time between cycling, learning guitar, and hanging out with his wife, pup, and one year old son.
Josh Hobson who is a developer at AG Grid, where he's been building AG Studio - a new dashboard library with multi-agent AI baked in. He's a mathematician by training and a maker by instinct, with a particular love for developer tooling, type systems, and intelligent interfaces. Outside of work, Josh can be found tinkering with 3D printers, ski touring in the Alps, or out on long walks with his dog.
Esther Brunner is a User Interface Developer and Partner at Zeix. Esther has been working as an Interface Developer at Zeix since July 2008. She studied philosophy, economics, and history at the University of Zurich. Before and during her studies, she worked independently as a web designer. As Chief Developer, Esther solves problems where others fail. She is passionate about JavaScript and browser responsiveness, semantic HTML, and web standards. She is also a specialist in accessibility and inclusive design, contributing for example to the Accessibility Developer Guide to establish best practices in frontend development. In general, she is constantly working on open-source solutions.
Mats Bryntse who is the founder and CEO of Bryntum, where he and his team build advanced scheduling and project planning tools for modern web apps. For the past 15 years, he has obsessed over JavaScript performance, developer experience, and making complex UIs feel simple. He used to enjoy chess, badminton, and independent thought, until Claude entered his life and optimized those away.
The panel will be moderated by Faris Aziz who is a Staff Frontend Engineer, international speaker, and product-minded engineer specializing in React, Next.js, resilient frontend architecture, and payment systems. From founding engineer to Staff Engineer and engineering leader, he has built systems used by tens of millions, co-founded the award-winning ZurichJS community, and speaks about building better software and healthier engineering cultures.

Enjoy great food and drinks in a relaxed setting, with plenty of opportunities to meet new people and continue the conversation. There will be a mix of seated and standing areas, plus access to the terrace if the weather is on our side.

Who is it for?
This evening is for engineers, product professionals, technology leaders, and anyone who has worked with UI at scale, complex charts, data intensive workflows, or performance challenges. It is also for people who simply enjoy geeking out about UI and AI.
The conversation will focus particularly on experiences and use cases from fintech, banking, insurance, and ecommerce.
We’re keeping the guest list to around 25 people so the conversation stays personal and open, with enough space for everyone to dive deeper into the topics.
