​Abstract (summary); This paper explores the trajectory of machine intelligence in a post-AGI world, focusing specifically on the transition from human-level Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) to Artificial Superintelligence (ASI). It examines four potential development pathways to ASI—scaling, paradigm shifts, recursive improvement, and multi-agent collectives—alongside the complex frictions and bottlenecks that might impede this progress. Ultimately, the research suggests that AGI may not be a single transformative event, but rather the catalyst for a continuous, rapidly accelerating series of global breakthroughs that require immediate, interdisciplinary preparation.
