Other Side of the Hill Film Screening and Panel
Portland Citizens’ Climate Lobby is hosting a screening of the film “Other Side of the Hill” followed by a panel discussion. The panel would be focused on discussing bipartisan approaches to supporting clean energy projects in rural Oregon communities.
Emmy nominated "Other Side of the Hill" explores the impacts of a changing climate in rural Eastern Oregon - as seen through the eyes of local leaders on the ground. From innovative timber operations in Wallowa County to large-scale solar in Lakeview, we amplify the voices of rural communities often left unheard. In a time of unprecedented cultural divide between rural and urban Oregon, we find common ground in an urgency to address a changing landscape.
The panel includes:
Nick Johnson, a resident of Lakeview whose work at Lake County Resource Initiative is featured prominently in the film.
Representative Mark Gamba, who passionately advocates for climate solutions as chair of the Environment Caucus.
Councilor Bernard Seeger, who serves as City Councilor in Cascade Locks and has served as a long time climate advocate with Citizens’ Climate Lobby.
Professor Heejun Chang, a professor at the Portland State University department of Geology and a member of the PSU Institute for Sustainable Solutions.
