Monsoon Waltz
As the last rains fall over South Asia, the monsoon arrives in Paris for one evening.
Under the arches of Place des Vosges, Still Other Collective and Brief Shalimar present a six-course canapé apéro in which each course is paired with a work of art: six plates, six artworks, one conversation between taste and image. The works come from Sehaj Malik, Zahra Mansoor, and Soroshi Michelle, hailing from Delhi, Karachi, and Goa respectively. Three artists, three cities, under one sky.
September marks the monsoon's end: dark, lush evenings of fritters under thunder, muggy heat, the smell of rain on warm earth. That memory becomes the evening. A live performance runs throughout the night, and the space is transformed.
Our modern geographies are neatly demarcated, labelled into silos. Our topographies never were. Our memory and geology speak of a relationship older than any border, and that is what we gather to be part of at Monsoon Waltz.
