Engineering Talks @Cisco #2
Our Bratislava office (previously known as Slido office) has been hosting engineering meetups for years and we're excited to bring the tradition back! 🎉
Join us for the second event in our new meetup series, where you can expect:
🎤 Three inspiring engineering talks from our colleagues
🍕 Great food, drinks, and good company (because the best conversations often happen between the talks 😉)
💬 Plenty of opportunities to meet fellow developers and exchange ideas

From Gatekeeping to Guiding:
The Power of Developer-QA Collaboration Quality is a shared responsibility. To deliver frequent releases with confidence, we need automated tests we can trust. That means testers understand the code, improve testability, and collaborate with developers rather than acting as gatekeepers. Developers, in turn, take ownership of testing their own changes. In this talk, we’ll share how this approach has helped our team deliver quality faster by embracing shared ownership, with AI as a supporting tool rather than the goal. While it may not be the right model for every team, it has worked well for us, and we hope it will inspire yours.

Typescript tricks that can make your life easier:
Explore a collection of practical TypeScript patterns that go beyond the basics. This talk covers lesser-known techniques and code patterns that I regularly use (and keep coming back to) in real-world frontend projects.

Workspaces for Agentic Coding:
Modern product development often spans multiple projects, platforms, and programming languages. Delivering a single feature requires coordination across frontend, backend, desktop apps, and shared services — usually involving several developers responsible for different parts of the stack. Agentic coding changes what is possible. With the right workspace setup, a single developer can navigate complex codebases, understand dependencies, and contribute across the full stack with much less friction. Jozef will share how the Slido integrations team at Cisco uses workspaces to accelerate feature delivery.
Short Bios of our Speakers:
Janči is a Technical Lead at Cisco, where he has worked on growth initiatives, A/B testing, and, more recently, the Webex Web Client. He is a strong believer in simple solutions and frequent, small releases. Outside of work, he spends his time with his four children. He's passionate about tech communities and has helped build and grow them in Poprad and Trenčín.
Rostislav is a Software Engineering Technical Leader specializing in frontend engineering. Before moving into frontend development, he worked in web and mobile 2D/3D game development, primarily using C#, building interactive applications and games across multiple platforms.
Jozef is a Technical Leader at Cisco, working on the Slido integration with Microsoft PowerPoint. He helps architect Slido for PowerPoint on Windows and Mac to deliver a consistent user experience across both platforms. His work connects desktop development, web applications, and user-facing product experiences used by presenters around the world. Outside of day-to-day product work, he enjoys playing video games and visiting sauna.
