About Event

Join us for a special (清明節) Tomb Sweeping Workshop, where we’ll dive into the traditions of ancestor veneration—what it means, how it’s practiced, and its deep cultural significance.

Programming Highlights:

Panel Dicussion about Tomb Sweeping and how to honor your lineage

Hands-On Workshop: Altar-Making + Joss Paper Folding

Collective Altar: Everyone is invited to contribute to the collective altar. (all items will be returned at the end of the event.) You are invited to bring food, flowers, pictures, etc to honor your loved ones.

Group Joss Paper Burning: Closing the event everyone will have a hand to burn the joss paper

Cultural Program Partners:

Grand Tea and Imports: Teaching us the traditions of Tomb Sweeping including what all the spiritual elements mean

Mica Verendia: Filipino-American Strategic Advisor, Cultural Organizer and Communications Consultant. Mica will be teaching us how to make your own altar.

Featured Children's Book: With You in Spirit by Jenny Liao. A story about a young child who reconnects with her late grandfather on Qing Ming, a holiday honoring family members who are no longer with us, celebrated in Chinese communities around the world. Sign copies available for purchase at the event.
