Talks@AU Presents
Decoding the Resistance: New Directions and Innovations in the Fight Against AMR
🗓 06 March 2026, Friday
⏰ 12:00 PM
📍 Atria University
Infections that refuse to heal. Antibiotics that fail. Microbes that build fortresses.
Dr. Asha Velayudhan Nair, Associate Professor, Life Sciences at Atria University, takes us deep into the science of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and biofilm-mediated resistance, one of the most pressing global health challenges of our time.
With a PhD from the University of Bristol and postdoctoral research experience at the University of Cambridge and IIT Kharagpur, Dr. Nair brings global expertise into Atria’s Life Sciences research ecosystem.
This session will explore:
How microbes form resilient biofilm “cities” in chronic wounds, implants, and dental plaque
The molecular mechanisms behind multidrug resistance
The power of multi-omics and Big Data in decoding microbial defense
Breakthrough approaches like Trojan Horse nanotechnology and biofilm-disruption strategies
This is more than a talk on antibiotics.
It’s about transforming medicine, from eliminating pathogens to disrupting fortresses.
Open to faculty, research scholars, students, incubatees, and external participants.
