Critical Conversation 2 - advocating for qualitative research in professional, policy, and academic contexts
Join NCRM's Collaborative and Participatory Methodological Special Interest Group for our fourth annual Critical Conversation series.
Creating a space for critical conversations to emerge, this session will focus on the theme of advocating for qualitative research in professional, policy, and academic contexts.
The session will begin with three lightning talkers presenting on their work.
Following these provocations, attendees will be invited to join breakout rooms with the lightning talkers, to engage in further discussions.
This session’s Lightning Talkers and their topics will be:
Dr Liam Berriman, Director of the Centre for Innovation & Research in Childhood and Youth (CIRCY) and Associate Professor, University of Sussex, will guide us in bringing children's and families' voices into research on public services.
Dr Kayleigh Charlton, Research Associate at the Children and Young People’s Centre for Justice (University of Strathclyde) will invite us to re-thinking what counts: the possibilities and practicalities of zines as a form of data generation.
Dr Ellen Davenport-Pleasance, Research Fellow at London Women's Clinic/ Honorary Fellow at City St Georges University and University of Sussex will discuss conducting a qualitative study at London Egg Bank; what egg donors’ narratives reveal and why qualitative research is essential for shaping ethical reproductive policy and practice.
This session will be hosted on Zoom and guided by the MSIG organisers, and breakout rooms will be used. The sessions will not be recorded but the MSIG organisers will write a blog to reflect on the key points of the session without identifying any individual contributors or attendees, unless permission is expressly given. See last year’s blogs here.
The session duration is 60 minutes, with no break. Attendees are welcome to join and leave as they need to. Here’s how to join a Zoom meeting.
