About the event:
Issue #6 asks what it takes to erase a virus from a country of a billion people — and whether it was worth it?
In 1995, India began trying to eradicate polio. Barely 40% of rural households had electricity. Only three in ten had a toilet. Around 50,000 children were being paralysed every year. What followed was the largest and most coordinated public health campaign the country has ever run — micro planning down to the household, surveillance that could trace a single virus to its source, and vaccination teams at toll booths, ferry crossings and on moving trains.
The launch event of Alter Issue #6 will be held on the afternoon of 6th September in Bengaluru, at Lagrange Point.
The evening runs on a general quiz hosted by Sparsh — CoFounder & President, Alt Carbon. We'll pair you up with fellow attendees on the night, not to worry. Fret not, the quiz will not be about the article. Bring your quizzing hat, we got some surprises in store for all!
