A Celebration of Civic Tech, Built by NYC's Emerging AI Talent
On Thursday, August 13, The Marcy Lab School and Cognizant invite our community of stakeholders and supporters to Cognizant's NYC office at Hudson Yards in Manhattan for the culminating showcase of our Applied AI Engineering Residency—an exclusive morning designed for employers, donors, and partners looking to connect with the next generation of AI engineering talent.
This summer, four industry stakeholders brought our Fellows a set of real problems in search of civic tech solutions: educational equity, elder care, quantum computing and universal basic income, and leadership in community. Twelve Fellow teams took them on. After an on-campus presentation day, our staff, Fellows, and the stakeholders themselves selected the four teams that will present their work on the Cognizant stage.
Now, they're ready to show you what they built.
What to Expect:
The Showcase: Four Fellow teams present the solutions they designed, built, and shipped in response to the challenges our industry partners set for them.
The Full Cohort: Meet all twelve teams. Every project will be featured throughout the morning, so you can dig into the work that caught your eye and hear the stories behind each build.
Dynamic Networking: Mix and mingle with partners, supporters, and Fellows over breakfast and during our closing reception — and get a window into the lived experiences and future aspirations of our incredible Fellows.

About the Applied AI Engineering Residency at The Marcy Lab School
The Applied AI Engineering Residency challenges our Fellows to build with emerging technology in service of real communities. Working directly with industry stakeholders, Fellows scope an ambiguous problem, research a domain they've never worked in, and deliver a working solution — practicing the autodidactic learning, technical judgment, and stakeholder communication their first full-time roles in tech will demand of them from day one.
