Join us for an intimate screening of Time, a film by Kiran Rai and Baljit Singh, is a tender portrait of life after loss. After her husband’s battle with dementia, Surjit drifts through quiet days, measuring hours in memories and small rituals. Her brightest moments arrive with her grandchildren’s visits; the rest she spends searching—gently, stubbornly—for peace amid loneliness.
Drawn to a circle of elderly women who gather in a neighborhood park, Surjit begins to test the possibilities of late-life friendship: What does starting over look like at 70?
Time explores grief, memory, and the fragile courage it takes to connect again—one conversation, one shared bench, one afternoon at a time.

Kiran Rai (KayRay) — Director/Co-Writer, Co-Founder, The Kollective
Toronto-based actor and filmmaker, KayRay uses film, documentaries, and digital series to address taboos within the South Asian community. Her shorts Ananke (1M+ YouTube views) and Haneri toured globally and are taught in university curricula. She co-produced and starred in Anarkali (28 episodes; ~2M views) and co-created the parody series The Brown Bachelorette, sharpening her satirical screenwriting voice. KayRay is the co-founder of The Kollective, a BIPOC-focused creative agency and production company, and has led 50+ workshops worldwide centered on community and mental health. Her talk show Cha Da Cup With KayRay airs on Brit Asia TV, with features in Vogue, The Toronto Star, NBC News, BBC, CBC, and Cosmopolitan.
Baljit Singh — Co-Director/Producer, Co-Founder, THE KOLLECTIVE
An analog photographer turned multidisciplinary storyteller, Baljit’s work spans cinematography, graphic design, and writing, documenting people-of-color narratives with a blend of nostalgia and modernity. She has branded artists, businesses, and events; contributes to international exhibitions; and has been featured in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Toronto Life, and USA Today. As co-founder of THE KOLLECTIVE (Toronto), she stewards high-quality, vision-aligned creative across film, digital series, and documentaries.
