CSC Workshop: Exploring Cultural Differences in LLMs for Mental Health
This workshop will explore how cultural norms shape the way mental health concerns are expressed, interpreted, and responded to, and what that means for LLMs used in mental health settings. We’ll look at examples of cross-cultural differences, discuss where current models may fall short, and think about how culturally aware AI systems could be designed and evaluated.
The second half of the workshop includes a hands-on component, where participants experiment with LLMs across culturally varied mental health scenarios and learn simple methods for comparing and evaluating their responses; no prior coding experience is required.
