A hands-on introduction to the methodology underlying the Catalyst Tool. The Catalyst Method was developed to help scale participation in grassroots organising, activating previously passive supporters, and creating easier ways to motivate and coordinate new volunteers. The Method is currently being applied successfully to the coordination of grassroots campaigns across the world - come and discover how it could be applied in your work!
About Torbjørn: Torbjørn (known by friends and activists as T-Bear) has almost 10 years of experience with fulltime grassroots organizing in the climate and human rights activist ecosystem. Coupling his engineering background with a desire for efficiency, he has become an expert in structured and scalable organizing, developing mobilization strategies and coining terms like integration and momentum overload.
About Catalyst (https://catalystcrm.org/): Catalyst is a non-profit association that helps organizations convert their passive supporters into active changemakers. Catalyst offers trainings, community and an activist management system built by and for grassroots organizers. The tool is not a corporate CRM rebranded for movements. It reflects the actual practices, pace, and complexity of grassroots work. It helps organizers:
Onboard and activate supporters through structured engagement pathways
Coordinate and delegate work to volunteers at scale without overburdening staff
Communicate and engage with large, decentralized groups
Access a secure, intuitive platform, with no technical expertise required
Share practices and insights with peer organizations
