Storytelling for Change Project from the Green Accelerator for Educators
Students will describe their project “Spiritual and Cultural Forces in Living in Harmony with Nature” – A Climate Action Initiative from Bhutan
In this project, students collaborate with local communities across Bhutan to document and share their indigenous cultural practices that embody principles of environmental preservation and harmony with nature. These practices—rooted in spiritual values, traditional wisdom, and lived experiences—reflect a sustainable way of life that is deeply embedded in Bhutanese identity.
While Bhutan is globally recognized for its environmental leadership—enshrined in our Constitution, Gross National Happiness framework, and carbon-negative status—the spiritual and cultural foundations of this ethos are fading among younger generations. This project aims to bridge that gap by reconnecting youth with ancestral wisdom and showcasing the beauty, truth, and practicality of living in tune with nature.
