Backing the Grafters: Britain's New Political Economy
This event launches An Honest Day – A New Economic Settlement for Britain, a new report from figures within the Labour Growth Group. Authored by Director Mark McVitie, with Chair Chris Curtis MP and others, it sets out a new centre-left diagnosis of Britain's challenges along with a doctrine and political direction to answer them. Proposing a practical plan for Britain's economy: backing grafters, rewarding action over position and restoring trust.
Taking place in the immediate aftermath of the May elections, we're looking to bring people together to ask what needs to change, and how to deliver it.
From living standards and housing to regulation, investment, and state capacity, the discussion will explore the pressures facing both households and employers, and set out the case for a new settlement built on work, taking initiative, and the active rebuilding of British state capability.
Speakers include:
Chair: Geri Scott, Assistant Political Editor, The Times
Chris Curtis MP, Chair, Labour Growth Group
Yuan Yang MP, Tribune Group Executive Committee Member
Will Hutton, Columnist and Political Economist
Mark McVitie, Director, Labour Growth Group
