​What is art? What is beauty? What is taste? Let's discuss!

• ​Who: An ideally smallish group of ~10 people.

• ​What: Co-facilitated discussions responding to 1-2 texts/essays about the philosophy of art.

• ​When: Biweekly on Mondays from 6-7:30pm (June 17, July 1, July 15, and July 29 – can continue this series if there's interest)

• ​Where: Solarpunk Cafe: We’ll be at the green couch right in the first room of The Commons.

• ​Why: To live examined lives with more richness, vibrance, and beauty.

​Sample topics (we will tailor topics based on the interests and questions of the group):

• ​What is beauty? Role of “taste” in art? (Plato, Kant, Hume)

• ​Functional art (e.g. propoganda) (Alain Locke)

• ​The role of technology in art (Walter Benjamin)
