From Idea to Bookshelf: Creating and Publishing a Children’s Book (Day 1 of 3)
Join multiple award-winning children’s book author Catherine Clark Felts for Day 1 of her three-part workshop on crafting, elevating, and publishing a children’s book. Featuring a very special guest, "Papa" Rick Harris, author of children's book series "The Adventures of Kaboose the Rocky Mountain Bear" and host of award winning podcast "Adventures in the Heart of Children's Book Authors". Rick has interviewed over 100 children's book authors and brings valuable insight and experience in crafting a captivating children's book.
In this first session, you’ll explore how to begin your story, hook young readers from the very first page, and keep them eagerly turning pages. Catherine will also discuss what to include (and what to leave out) in a children’s book, along with an overview of the different types of children’s books to help you determine what format best fits your idea and voice.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their own children’s book concept or work-in-progress and receive feedback through an interactive writing exercise.
Whether you’re just beginning or refining an idea, don’t miss this chance to learn how to conceptualize and start crafting your own children’s picture book.
