About Event

Topic: Thoughts on Go Programming Language (Open Source)
Speaker: Hugo Y. Silva, Senior Software Developer

In this presentation, you'll be introduced to Go, a powerful and modern programming language designed to address the challenges of today’s software development. We'll explore what Go is, its origins, and the motivations behind its creation, as well as its growing adoption in the industry. Through hands-on coding demos, we'll dive into key Go features like structs, pointers, goroutines, and channels, followed by real-world case studies showcasing Go’s impact on various companies.

Go was created at Google in 2007 to improve programming productivity in an era of multi-core networked machines and large codebases. Today, over 15 years since its public announcement in 2009, Go’s use inside Google has grown tremendously. Hugo has been programming with this open-source language since his University days, and shares with us his thoughts and experiences with one of Stack Overflow's most admired and desired languages.

Whether you're a seasoned developer or just starting, this is a fantastic opportunity to dive into Go’s unique features, including:
📜 - What is Golang and the motivations behind its creation
🌍 - The adoption of Go in the industry
💻 - A hands-on coding demo, showcasing Go routines, channels, and more
🏢 - Real-world case studies of companies leveraging Go for success

Join us for a peek at the future of programming languages.
