Bits in Bio Presents, Billiards in Chicago
This is the first Bits in Bio event in Chicago. It's a kickoff for everyone in Chicagoland working where computation meets biology, and the goal is simple: get the whole scene into one room. With a pool table.
Why Lincoln Tap Room? Abraham Lincoln played billiards. By most accounts he was awkward at it and about average. So we're shooting pool on Lincoln Avenue in his honor, and nobody has to be good.
It's a long, dark room lit in red, with a pool table and a back room reserved for us. It has also been a Steelers bar for decades, in the middle of Bears country. If they can make that work, we can get therapeutics and software people talking.
No panels. No pitches. No slide decks. Nobody is going to make you stand up and introduce yourself. Grab a Revolution and meet the people building bio in this city.
What to expect Wear a real coat. It's Chicago in December.
Coming alone? Good. Most people are. The organizers will be circulating specifically to introduce people to each other, so find one of us and say so. That is the job.
Pool is first come, first served. Winner stays on. Challenger racks.
Drinks are on you. There's an optional $25 package for BiB guests: two Revolution drafts plus unlimited Miller Lite, High Life, well cocktails, and wine, from 6 to 10 PM. Buy it at the bar or don't.
This one is for everyone This includes therapeutics, devices, diagnostics, agriculture, industrial, and software. It includes academic, startup, and big company people, plus anyone still figuring out where they fit. Researchers, clinicians, founders, engineers, students, operators, investors, and people trying to break in are all welcome.
