About Event

Something new is being built in SOMA. We're not ready to talk about it yet, but we're ready to show you.

We're hosting an evening around a live lecture from Lucas Encarnacion-Rivera — and if you know, you know. His last talk sold out with over 100 people in the room. Now's the chance to see him for free.

Lucas is a Neuroscience PhD candidate at Stanford University School of Medicine and one of SF's most electrifying science communicators. He takes the most complex ideas in brain research and makes them land, no dumbing down, no fluff, just the kind of clarity that makes you feel genuinely smarter walking out than you did walking in.

Hosted by Tacit

We're a stealth startup working at the intersection of neuroscience, next-generation hardware, and the future of how humans interact with information. This evening is a rare chance to get hands-on with our technology before the rest of the world does. All we ask is 20 minutes of your time with our in house HCI prototypes.

Do that, and the rest of the night is on us.

Think of it this way...people pay $$ to see lectures like this. You'll see it for free just for trying out some cool tech, contributing to our data collection and simultaneously training our AI model.

We’d especially love to meet some new faces. We encourage you to bring a friend (or 2!) If you’ve recorded with us before, you’re still welcome to join, but we may prioritize first-time participants and can’t guarantee a seat.

*Tickets will be given upon completion of your brief data collection session; you must record for 20 minutes to receive a ticket to the talk*

The Talk

Dopamine is everywhere—on podcasts, in productivity hacks, in conversations about addiction, motivation, and “dopamine detox.”

But what does neuroscience actually have to say about it?

In this lecture, Lucas Encarnacion-Rivera, Neuroscience PhD candidate at Stanford University School of Medicine, cuts through the hype to separate fact from fiction about the brain’s most talked-about neurotransmitter. Together, we’ll explore what dopamine really does, what it doesn’t do, and how it shapes motivation, reward, learning, and everyday behavior.

How the Night Works

Arrive, sign your NDA, and spend 20 minutes with devices. Once your session is complete, your seat for the lecture is yours. From there, settle in, grab a drink, and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Agenda

  • 5:00 – 6:45PM — Drop in for your 20 min HCI session (last slot at 6:45)
