NANIZANO 06/09
An exhibition in four chapters by Ksenia Malurika.
A human eye embroidered from thirty-five thousand glass beads. A stomach: twenty-two thousand. Lungs, a womb, a heart. Fragile objects halfway between jewellery and anatomy.
NANIZANO is an exhibition about fragility and the constant need to piece oneself back together. The material forgives nothing: the thread snaps, beads go missing, a form that has barely appeared can come apart from a single wrong move. What is assembled here is never finally assembled — a form holds because someone keeps holding it. Every bead is stitched separately, and that fragility is not a flaw in the technique; it is what the work is saying.
