​Back to the Roots: Navigating the Nigerian Timeline

​Nigeria didn't just happen. It was engineered by colonial administrators drawing borders for convenience, by politicians rigging censuses and elections to hold power, and by a group of nine young military officers who decided one January night that enough was enough.

​This edition of Disruptive Dialogue is a Movie Edition. We'll screen a documentary that walks through the structural decisions that built Nigeria's First Republic and the contradictions that tore it apart. From the amalgamation of 1914 to the coup of January 15, 1966, the film traces how the rules of the game were written, who they were written for, and what happened when too many people had too much to lose.

​After the screening, we open the floor. This is where we discuss what we make of what we've just watched together.
