ATIHx Austin, Technology and Accessibility: A Conversation
ATIHx Austin is hosting an informal gathering to discuss how we can collectively affect, inform, and improve the Responsible Tech ecosystem as it relates to Public Interest Technology and Accessibility.
Who gets left out when we build technology, and what would it take to do better? Join Austin’s responsible tech community for an evening on accessibility in the tools and systems that shape everyday life, featuring a candid, moderated conversation with Dr. Dee Miller and Jillian Fortin of Knowbility, followed by a hands-on activity reflecting on the conversation. No tech background is required, and the event is free and open to all.
Meet our speakers:
Jillian Fortin, Knowbility. Jillian found accessibility in 2008, when the firm where she worked as a digital project manager sent her team to Knowbility’s Accessibility Internet Rally. Over nearly two decades since, she has served twice on Knowbility’s staff, joined its advisory board, and led community programs at Fable, the research platform where people with disabilities help test and co-design products — along the way teaching accessibility workshops at SXSW, speaking at the M-Enabling Summit, and contributing to G3ict research. In 2026, she returned as Executive Director, at the invitation of co-founder Sharron Rush, to lead Knowbility into its next chapter: making sure that as AI reshapes how technology gets built, people with disabilities are included from the start rather than retrofitted in later.
Dr. Dee Miller, Knowbility. is a relationship-driven leader with 15+ years of experience driving inclusive innovation through product development, research, and strategy. As Director of Product Strategy & Insights on Adobe’s Product Equity team, she led initiatives in accessibility, usability, cultural access through data enrichment, and equity-centered measurement to better serve systemically underinvested communities. An Aspen Institute First Mover Fellow, she holds a B.S. in Science, Technology, and Society from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an M.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, and a Ph.D. focused on Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Based in Austin, TX, she enjoys traveling, dancing, and belting out her go-to karaoke song, “Proud Mary” by Ike & Tina Turner.
Kiyomi Beach, Moderator. is the Founder and CEO of Insights4Equity and Co-Founder of Hypha Foundation. Her career spans finance, impact investing, nonprofits, and social enterprises, and her work is driven by people-centered, data-informed processes. She is on a mission to rebalance society so businesses recenter on people and community and we can all flourish.
